This song came about when, the previous day at an EMI songwriting week, Kim told me she was having a ‘shit’ day. I tried to cheer her up by promising I would write a song that would cheer her up. That night she partied hard and showed up to the session the following morning wearing sunglasses and sporting a hangover of industrial proportions. Some 20 minutes later, Kim, Abenna Frempong and myself had the first draft of the song and come the evening, when we would perform it to a jury of our peers that included the head of A&R of EMI publishing, Kim was too hung over to sing it. I stepped into the breach and nailed the second best version of 12 Years Old!
