I played on and contributed arrangements and programming on Annie Lennox’s ‘Diva’ album. When Annie presented the sketch of ‘Legend’ I felt I wanted to invoke an atmosphere that was reminiscent of ‘Papa was a rolling stone’ by the Temptations. Of course, the finished song is nothing like that illustrious recording but the desire to achieve something as arresting was definitely at the forefront of my thoughts. And, let’s face it, if anybody was going to be able to run with such a desire, it was Annie Lennox!
