Story.

When Anna came into my studio to write, I was fiddling about with a riff (on guitar!!) that was in 5/4 – heaven knows why. We spent the rest of the morning trying to fit a melody onto this odd time signature and were ready to abandon it when Anna alighted upon a lyric that remains one of my favourites. Recording the brass band (not session musicians) was also hairy as most of the players had never worked in a studio before. Still, just before certain members passed out, we finally got a good take and ‘Story’ really became worth telling.
